Hunting Trip

A few days before Christmas, Huck went on his first hunting trip!  We packed up the car and headed up to San Saba.  Huck was very excited to get on the road.

Huck spent most of his time hanging out inside since it was pretty chilly outside.  Unfortunately, I didn't bring good cold-weather gear for me or Huck, but we were able to borrow a big warm coat.

Mary and Dave prepared a delicious lunch for all of us which include some meat from the deer that Dave had shot that morning.

Huck did what he does best - look adorable!

After lunch, Chris and I drove around the area and found a little shooting range.  We took turns shooting the rifle and amazingly enough, I got closest to the bulls-eye!

We also took turns shooting closer to the target.

Chris had to give me a lesson in how to shoot.  The first picture really captures my feelings about the whole thing.

We took a look around the barn at some of the available vehicles.

Some more pictures from our afternoon:

When we left, I had to get a picture of the name of one of a neighboring ranch that I saw on our way in.  I thought it was hilarious!

After we got back to Cedar Park, we drove around to see some of the local Christmas lights.  Huck slept through the entire drive, but it would have been hard for him to see from his car seat, even if he was able to figure out what to look at.  I'm looking forward to looking at lights with him next year!
